Air Max Day Is Almost Here and We’re Ready to Celebrate!
It’s almost March 26, 2020, and you definitely know what that means. Air Max Day is right around the corner bringing with it new Air Max drops! We can’t hide our excitement even if we tried! But if you’re new to the sneaker game, boyyy you’re in for a ride!
A Brief History of Air Max Day
So the first Nike with a visible air unit was the Air Max 1. Tinker Hatfield was the genius behind it, and the kicks released on March 26, 1987. The design was a revolutionary one and the crowds received them with great enthusiasm. However, 27 years later, Nike got the brilliant idea of celebrating this iconic technology and sneakers. The celebrations went around the world on the same day every year! The crowds could flex their most exclusive Air Max kicks, trade them, and just be part of this amazing Nike community.
From motion picture videos to the One before 1 to a huge shoebox, Nike never shied away from a bold event!
Air Max Day 2020 Drops
A bit over 3 decades later, the kicks are as popular as ever. Every sneakerhead has at least one pair of Air Max sneakers in their wardrobe! And on Air Max Day 2020, you have a chance to expand that collection with the brand new releases that mainly focus on the Air Max 90 and the brand new 2090!
Air Max 2090 Debut!
Nike didn’t waste any time teasing this futuristic spin of the classic Air Max 90 since the beginning of 2020! These kicks take some classic elements of the Air Max 90 and update others to give us a modern pair of sneakers that give us that hidden sense of nostalgia! Two colorways are set to debut on Air Max Day 2020, for $150. The first colorway, or the OG if you want, will be available in full family sizes. However, the ladies will have an exclusive Lava Glow colorway!
Let’s get a bit technical because you’re probably interested in what the updates are! Nike decided to stick to the classic mudguard, cassette near the air unit and the heel branding. However, the new elements are a brand new color blocking, larger air unit, incomplete swoosh, and some extra flexibility!
How About Some Duck Camo?
Remember the 2013 Atmos x Nike Air Max 90 Duck Camo? Of course, who doesn’t? This is one of the most popular colorways and actually resells for an average of $817! This year, we’re getting the Air Max 90 Reverse Camo! And, here’s the fun part, another camo is dropping, but it’s the brand new Air Max Infrared 2090 Duck Camo.
Nike Is Pampering the Ladies on Air Max Day!
This day wouldn’t do without something for the lady sneakerheads. In fact, a women’s exclusive Air Max 90 Medal Pack is dropping on Air Max Day.
This pack offers three metallic colorways: Silver, Gold and Rose gold! But what’s actually interesting is the fact that these kicks were only available via the Nike By You platform! So it’s needless to say that these will be some really popular kicks. And let’s not forget about Melody Ehsani’s WMNS exclusive Jordans that just dropped a couple of days ago!
Another UNDFTD x Air Max 90
That’s not their first collab, and probably won’t be the last. But it’s definitely one of the most cheerful! Previous releases included these black and white 90s in 2019!
The colorful upper is made of blue and pink mesh upper and a dash of neon laces. With all these components, these kicks will without a doubt turn heads. The midsole is white with pink splatter too! This colorway is also a cool nod to running shoes and is a link between the old and new collections! The previous black colorway dropped on the 14th.
Size? x Air Max 95 “20 for 20”
It’s been 20 years since their first collaboration. And on Air Max Day, size? are doing their own tribute for the occasion! They actually took a piece of every sneaker collab they ever did together and put a brand new mismatched Air Max 95! Each shoe features a different color palette for the layers on the side! The right side features mostly green-blue layers while the left one goes for the more pink and yellowish hues!
What About the Air Max Day Event?
Will the event take place with all the Coronavirus shutdowns and precautions? We’re used to being mind-blown with the festivities since 2014! But the community’s safety is much more important than any event. However, all we have to do is wait until March 26 and see how the event will fold out! Happy Air Max Day peeps! And we have to ask ourselves, will we be seeing Kylie Jenner rocking the kicks soon?
